Open Forge Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 5, 2026
Open Forge LLC ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the Open Forge application and related services (the "Service"). Open Forge launches initially in the United States only and is intended for people who are at least 18 years old.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
We collect your email address, account authentication information, name or display name, and profile details you choose to provide, such as a profile photo or biography. We use email verification to confirm access to your email address.
User Activity
We collect information about events you create, join, or interact with, including event details, timing, recurring occurrences, memberships, host roles, and participation. We also collect chat messages, host notes, blocks, and other interactions you submit through the Service.
Location Information
We receive location information used to find nearby events, including coordinates when you use a device-location feature or choose an area. Hosts provide public or private event locations, which may include an exact address and coordinates, a location description, and generalized or approximate location information. Location searches may share search text and a nearby area with AWS Location.
Information you enter into event titles, descriptions, chats, reports, or support messages may also contain location details.
We do not continuously track your precise background location.
Device and Usage Information
We may receive device type, operating system, app interactions, IP addresses, timestamps, error logs, and performance information needed to operate and troubleshoot the Service. For push notifications, we collect device or installation identifiers, notification tokens, preferences, and delivery information.
Subscriptions and Purchases
We receive subscription and purchase information used to manage paid features, such as account and transaction identifiers, products, subscription status and expiration, refunds, and purchase recovery information. Apple and Google handle store billing, and RevenueCat helps manage subscription entitlements.
Safety and Support Information
We collect safety reports, reasons and notes, information about reported users, events or messages, relevant evidence, and moderation review or resolution information. We also receive support communications and any files or evidence you choose to send us.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
Provide and operate Open Forge, authenticate accounts, verify email access, and respond to support requests.
Enable event creation, discovery, participation, recurring occurrences, and communication between users.
Apply private-location access controls and provide location search or directions features.
Manage notifications, subscription entitlements, purchases, refunds, and related accounting or recovery needs.
Personalize relevant event discovery, improve performance, and troubleshoot problems.
Investigate safety reports, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce suspensions or bans, and maintain platform security.
Address applicable legal obligations or claims and handle privacy or deletion requests.
We do not sell personal information or use advertising. We do not track you across other apps or websites for behavioral advertising or use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. How We Share Information
With Other Users
Other users may see your display name and profile photo, event information and participation, and messages or other content you share with them, depending on the relevant feature and access controls.
Private Event Locations
Access to exact private-event locations is restricted to the host and eligible participants when the host reveals the location, subject to the app's access controls. Other users may receive a generalized label or approximate location instead. Generalized location information is not necessarily anonymous.
Ending access to a private location is different from deleting the stored information. We cannot necessarily recall information someone has already viewed, copied, photographed, or exported to a calendar, map, or another service.
With Service Providers
We use service providers to operate the Service, including Supabase for accounts, data and media storage; AWS Location for location search; RevenueCat for subscription entitlements; Expo for push notifications; Google Workspace and email services for support and account communications; and hosting or server infrastructure providers. Apple and Google handle applicable store purchases and billing.
These services receive information relevant to the functions they perform. App stores and other third parties may also process information under their own privacy policies. Their retention and deletion practices can differ, so deletion from Open Forge does not necessarily mean immediate deletion of every provider's copy.
For Legal or Safety Reasons
We may disclose limited information where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable legal obligations or legal process, address legal claims, protect users or the platform, or prevent fraud, abuse, or harm.
4. Data Retention
We retain ordinary information only for as long as reasonably necessary to operate Open Forge, carry out the purposes disclosed in this policy, and meet applicable obligations.
Event Visibility and Deletion
All events must have an end time. An event becomes invisible to ordinary users at its end time. Ordinary event data is scheduled for deletion at midnight entering the day after the event's end date, using America/New_York time. For example, an event ending Tuesday evening reaches its scheduled deletion cutoff at the start of Wednesday in that time zone.
Recurring occurrences are separate events and each follows its own lifecycle. Deleting one occurrence does not automatically delete other occurrences. Event deletion is subject to the limited retention and residual-copy exceptions below.
Limited Retention and Safety or Legal Holds
After an event or account is deleted, we may retain limited information only where reasonably necessary for safety or security investigations, fraud or abuse prevention, enforcement of suspensions or bans, legal obligations or legal claims, financial or accounting obligations, or documenting that a deletion request was handled.
We limit this retention in scope and duration and restrict access to authorized people. Safety or legal holds cover only relevant information; unrelated ordinary data remains subject to deletion. We remove retained information when the justified purpose and applicable obligations no longer require it.
Backups and Residual Copies
Residual copies may temporarily remain in backups, logs, service-provider systems, or similar systems until they are removed or expire under applicable retention practices. Some event communications may also remain after an event is deleted, subject to the limited purposes described in this policy.
We seek to minimize residual copies. We do not promise an exact backup-erasure deadline or immediate removal of every copy from every system.
5. Your Rights & Choices
You can update your profile information in the app, choose what information you submit, manage device location and notification permissions, and stop using the Service. Turning off permissions or uninstalling the app does not itself delete information already stored by Open Forge or cancel a subscription.
Account Deletion
You can request account deletion in the app or through our web-accessible deletion process. You can also contact support@openforgego.com with questions about deletion or the status of a request.
The account-deletion process removes ordinary account and profile information, content you authored that we still maintain, location information, photos and other media, and other ordinary account data. It also revokes memberships and access to private-event locations. Only narrowly justified information may be retained for the purposes described in Section 4.
If you host an upcoming or active event, we may cancel it on-platform when you delete your account. Hosting does not automatically transfer to another user. Other users' independently created content is not automatically deleted merely because it references you, although deleting an entire event may also remove shared messages and participation information for that event.
Private-event location information may exist in more than one record or system used to operate the Service. When applicable information is deleted, we seek to remove ordinary copies under our control, subject to the limited retention and residual-copy exceptions in Section 4.
Subscriptions
Deleting an Open Forge account does not itself cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. Manage or cancel your subscription through the applicable store. RevenueCat assists with subscription entitlement information; account deletion does not automatically create a refund entitlement. Applicable store refund processes and any rights provided by law are separate.
Privacy Requests
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights concerning access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. Contact us using Section 10 to ask about these rights or the status of a request. We may need information reasonably necessary to verify that the request concerns your account.
6. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including access controls for private-event exact locations.
However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
You must be at least 18 years old to use Open Forge. The Service is not intended for people under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18.
Email verification confirms control of an email address; it is not age verification. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we may take appropriate action, including suspending or deleting the account. Please contact us if you believe someone under 18 is using the Service.
8. Third-Party Links
The Service may link to third-party services or allow you to open maps, calendars, or other apps. Those services handle information under their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the Effective Date when changes take effect and provide additional notice where appropriate or required by applicable law.
